Ainsley Loves The Olympics, Brian loves new music

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

So have you talked to Ainsley lately?  If not, you’ve yet to be schooled on the Olympics by the Olympic Prodigy, Ainsley E Matheny.

She’s so into the Olympics, it’s awesome. She knows all about Michael Phelps (and his mom), the US Stats and what’s going on in Beijing.  Find me another 6 year old so engrossed in the Olympics and not cartoons and Bratz dolls.  Damn, I’m so proud of her!

She called me the other day to check in and say hi and said “So, this baby still isn’t here yet… You know, we’ve bought all this stuff for it, and I am thinking we need to just send it back, since it can’t even get here on time!” Patience?  Ha! She gets that from her dad :-)

Busy busy weekend as usual… A little swimming with Joey on Friday, Batman at the Imax on Saturday with Natalie and dinner with Joey and Natalie Saturday night.  Today I spent most of the day working getting ready for my trip over to Pittsburgh for work.  Such a perfectionist, I’ve been trying to get everything lined up.  More prep work to do tomorrow before I fly out.  Did a little shopping with my mom today (thanks mom  ;-) )  I was supposed to have dinner with Dad and Debbie, but they’d already eaten by the time I called them… Life’s been so busy, I’ve lost track of time many of times.

End of the month should be exciting – Joey and I are gonna take a few days off and get out of town for a break.  We’re thinking Padre, but it’s been tough to get a hotel thanks to the last Hurricane… we’ll see what happens.

If you love my taste in music (which is pretty much no one but me), the new Panic! At the Disco album is awesome.  Pretty. Odd. is out now and totally different from the last.  A bit more mellow, but a great sound as I expected.  Joey introduced me to Maria Mena who is quite comforting as well… just some nice vocals on a good track.  For a gumball, but great none the less, check out Mika, whom I’d been complacent about getting, but did and didn’t regret it… guilty pleasure number 423,752,765.

Down on the farm!

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

We went out, took lunch, fed the chickens and had a nice little visit.

Check out all the pics here!

The video below is Ains feeding the chickens in the pen… she is like Cesar Milan, except in this case it’s Ainsley Evan – Chicken Whisperer.

And the Fire Works Red Glare

Monday, July 7th, 2008

The 4th of July meant hotdogs, canoeing, fireworks and smores on the river in Kerrville!

We picked up my nephew Allen and joined the likes of Dad, Debbie, Nana and Dada on the Guadalupe for family fun.

Ains decided she wanted to be in charge of the canoe as we paddeled along… she did great till she ran us right into a rock!  We almost tipped and she decided the exhausting work was better left to someone else.

Allen is little MacGuyver, scared of nothing.  He went trapsing through the woods and was throwing rocks calling himself THE HULK!

See all the pictures here!

The kids got some great fishing in and enjoyed watching the deer.  I was exhausted from chasing the duo all weekend, but wouldn’t have missed it for the world!

First summer weekend!

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Well the summer has already kicked into high gear – Saturday was spent seeing family most of the day and visting and unpacking.

Sunday was up and at them bright and early – Ains is still on East Coast time, so 6:45 she was ready to go.  We took some flowers to my brothers site, since this is the day we lost him 4 years ago… From there it was off to watch her cousin play in the Central Texas Little League Play Offs.  Ains had fun being the cheerleader and playing with all the kids at the park.

From there, it was off to 300 for some bowling fun.  I came in 1st place!  Ains was a great sport and tried to teach her techniques to everyone.

Softball Wrap up

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Well Ainsley wrapped up her spring softball this month and seemed to love every bit of it!

It was her first year, and she jumped right into coach pitch, focusing in the center field position.  She looked adorable and was a great sport the whole time, despite not being on the best team.

Her last game, she had a great hit which lead to a double!  Look out Softball World Series, Ains is on your trail!
